How to use capo & chord transposer
- Paste chord symbols separated by spaces or bars.
- Transpose the song up or down in semitones, then choose a capo fret.
- Read the concert chords and the shapes to play, or ask for an easier capo position.
A little more about this tool
Concert chords describe the harmony you hear. Chord shapes describe your finger positions relative to the capo. A C shape with a capo on fret two sounds as D, so the tool subtracts the capo position from the concert key when calculating shapes. The easy-position suggestion counts familiar open chord shapes up to fret nine; it does not account for every guitarist’s preferences or the best vocal register. Slash chords transpose both the chord root and bass note.
Can I paste lyrics with chords?
Use chord symbols only here. Keeping lyrics out prevents ordinary words such as A from being mistaken for chords. Line breaks and bar separators are preserved.
Is it really free?
Yes. Use this tool without an account, subscription or download. Audio files and microphone input stay on your device. Browser format support varies; MP3 and WAV are good starting points.
