Best acid bassline generators and 303 plugins
REHEAT fits a writing-first workflow with editable MIDI and a companion MIDI DRIVER. ABL3 fits producers seeking a dedicated 303 emulation. Riffer is worth considering when you want generated MIDI ideas across more than acid bass.

Are you buying the bass sound or help writing the line?
Those are different decisions. ABL3 focuses on emulating the 303 instrument. REHEAT focuses on producing bassline ideas you can take into your session, including drag-out MIDI and live control through MIDI DRIVER. If the goal is to keep a favourite synth and get a fresh part, start with the writing workflow.
Does exported MIDI preserve every acid detail?
Not automatically. A receiving synth decides how notes, velocity, overlap and controllers affect its sound. Test accented notes and slides on that synth rather than assuming the export will sound identical. ABL3 also offers MIDI pattern export in its current updates, so MIDI export alone is not a reason to rule it out.
What should I check in my own DAW?
Try generating a line against your kick, export it and edit a few notes. Then test live MIDI routing if that is how you intend to work. For REHEAT, AAX applies to the instrument; MIDI DRIVER is AU/VST3 on Mac and VST3 on Windows. Check the receiving track actually records the notes you expect before building a larger session.
